Happy Anniversary, Julie

My Beloved Julie,

The day was July 19th, 2003 and it was a sunny day unusual for Seattle in the summer, or so I was told. The day saw a high temperature in the mid-90s and after all these years I have two predominant memories of the day: First was how beautiful you looked in your wedding gown and, secondly, how uncomfortable my rental shoes that accompanied my tux were after a few minutes of walking the concrete paths outside the Seattle Temple. The Importance of Exercise

The Importance of Exercise

Android App:My Tracks

My HTC Desire running My Tracks

Finally, a geek topic! As you may have noticed I've recently developed an interest in exercising, more specifically, biking. But, even an intellectual understanding of something doesn't minimize the emotional consequences, and as such, I miss my daughter. Most especially today. Read more »

Philoctetes

I wrote the other day about some of my experiences with exercising. One item I mentioned briefly I realized needed more discussion so I made it a topic of it's own. That's the topic of personal trainers.

If you decide that the gym is where you want to be to workout. That's great! I personally enjoy weight training at a gym, something about the atmosphere and pushing one's self to a good burn is fun. However, if you are going to hire a personal trainer be sure to ask them point blank if they have any experience working with overweight people. Many of them have never been overweight and simply do not understand the problems associated with obesity. (Some even have a not-so-secret prejudice against overweight people, and putting your success in their hands is a dangerous mix.) Read more »
